Katrina entered Palmacosta in an angry silence. She was still mad at Lucien and refused to speak with him at Hakonesia Peak. As she looked around the town square, she simply walked around and took in the sights.
Lucien Phera... You idiot. You should have left it alone. And you should have thought before you attacked that soldier last night. She thought to herself, people who felt her anger getting out of her way.

Lucien was still wallowing in a bout of self pity. He had bitten the girl he had become slightly smitten with, all because of that accursed black fog. He muttered curses to himself, about himself, in a fit of self-centered anger. "Fucking idiotic monster."

As Katrina walked on, she soon made it to the bridge connecting the town square to the market. Unfortunately, as she was halfway across, she managed to lose her balance and slip off it, falling into the water. Katrina panicked, and started flailing about, shouting what was obvious from her actions.
"HELP! I--I can't Swim!"

Lucien immediately threw off his jacket and hat, and dove in after her, not worrying about his shoes her pants. Thankfully, a holy relic around his neck prevented the dhampir from being killed by the running water of the ocean. Once he had the young woman in his arms, he immediately sprouted wings from his back, and began to fly her to dry land.

Katrina, more out of fear of falling out of Lucien's grip rather than thankfulness, held on to Lucien as tight as she could and kept her eyes shut.
"Please don't let me fall." she said quickly, and could have almost sworn she heard her heart beating as he held her.

Lucien picks her up into her arms, bridal style, and landed with her softly as his wings were beating softly in the sunlight. "You are lucky I possess the holy relic, or else I would have died upon contact with the water." He said, and looked into her eyes. "...I am... glad I was able to um... s-save you."

Katrina opened her eyes and looked into Lucien's own yellow eyes with her Hazel ones. It was true, she guessed, that without that relic, he'd be dead, and so would she. But, she was still a little angry at him for finding out her secret, which led her to a sudden thought. She needed to check her arm as soon as possible, and oil it before it rusted up.
Unfortunately, her priorities were a bit muddled as a blush crossed her face and her heart started beating wildly.
"Th-Thank you for saving me Luci..." she said a bit absentmindedly.

"It was no problem." He said, and put her down on her feet gently. "You must watch your balance next time, though. Had I not been there, I shiver to think what might have happened."

"Um.... y-yeah..." Katrina said, and then snapped back to reality.
"Anyway Luci-boy, I'm still mad at you, so don't forget that."
She then walked passed Lucien, despite the fact the blush was still on her face. And, once her back was facing the dhamphir, placed her right hand on her chest, noting her heart beat was still rapid.
What the hell is wrong with me? I'm not falling for him, am I?

"You would still show me anger after I very well just..." He said, and snarled. "...very well. If it is your perrogative then be my guest." Lucien said with a deep sigh, and muttered to himself, "You know, I'm beginning to think maybe just going back to sleep for another two centuries would've been a good idea..."

(Right, joining with Aura's permission.)
"Finally made it." Walking down to the dock from the boat, Samuel Diarnus (or as he now called himself, Sable) brushed a hand through his black hair, taking a deep breath as he once more touched solid ground. Looking around, the young half-elf was quite surprised at the flurry of activity in the area, his forest green eyes wide. Checking to see if his chain was still wrapped around his torso, he began to head towards the city proper, still surpised at how different the wider world was to the enclosed space of Meltokio. Entering the marketplace, he heard a small commotion, but ignored it. At least until some guy flew to the ground and dropped a woman who was dripping wet.
"... that is something you do not see everyday." Sable commented, eyebrow raised. Seeing that they had some sort of argument, or something, he made to move along, hoping to find some work to make some more money before he moved on.

"Geeze Fang Face, do you have to be so damn uptight all the time?"she said to Lucien as she walked, "It's as if 200 years of moping about yourself erased your sense of humor, if you ever had one in the first place."
As she walked along, she soon spotted where she fell, and the dhamphir's coat and hat on the ground. She paused for a moment to think, and then shrugged as she picked them up.
"Might as well..." Katrina muttered, and after stuffing them into her bag, started looking for somewhere private to do some maintenence. Unfortunately, she bumped into Sable.
"Sorry," she said, adjusting her glasses, "didn't see you there."

"Moping around? I just said I lied dormant in a coffin. ANd it's hard to have a sense of humor when... bah, forget it. You lack understanding of the situation proper." He said, pushing his hat up. When Katrina bumped into Sable, he raised and eyebrow. "Good day to you, kind sir."

"Oof..." Sable stumbled back a bit, before glancing up at the sound of someone apologising. "No, please do not apologise. The fault is entirely my own, I should have been aware of my own path." Bowing slightly, the half-elf looked towards the woman's companion, nodding. "Good day to you as well, kind sir. Now, I shall not hold you two from your own business for any longer. Again, my apologies for bumping into you." He then started to go around the two, obviously embarassed by what he imagined was his own clumsiness.

Katrina took note of the stranger's mannerisms and adjusted her glasses again, and seeing his unique hair color, and spoke up.
"Hey, you're a half elf, right? And judging by how you act, I think it's safe to assume you were raised by someone very rich, or a noble." She said, rubbing her left arm, "Also... best not to go in that direction around here. Trust me, there is an evil old woman that way who hates anything non human, and her own granddaughter."

"Katrina, I may have slept in a coffin for 200 years, but even I know it is most unwise to simply analyze people verbally, and to direct your thoughts AT them." Lucien said in a disgruntled tone, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Sir, um... please, she didn't mean anything by that. She just likes to analyze things."

"Oh, um... yes, that is... darn, am I that bad at hiding my heritage?" Sable mumbled, his face turning a slight shade of red. Looking up as the man defended him, he shook his head. "I-It's alright, just a bit surprised by how fast she figured that out. But thanks for the advice about that old woman, I am not that fond of human supremacists..." Stopping, the young half-elf resisted the urge to bring his palm to his face. "How wonderful, this means getting a temporary job for finance is quite improbable."

"You're welcome for the warning." Katrina said, before turning to Lucien. "and Luci, how I do things is not your concern, alright? Argh... this can't get any worse... can it?"
And, as if on cue, a middle aged man came running up to the trio, a very tired look on his face.
"Of course. Speak of the She Devil, and she sends her minion. Hello Uncle Charlie." she said, glaring.
"I thought I felt the Waldrip rage from home." He said between breaths. "Katrina, your grandmother wants to see you... she's dying and wanted to tell you something."
Katrina just stared at the man, a look of disbelief on her face.
"Seriously? That witch wants to talk to me after what she did? Grandma Betty can't stand me, remember?"
"Katrina, I know my mother's actions in the past weren't... favorable.... but she insisted that at least one of her grandchildren visit her before she dies... PLEASE! She's driving me up the wall with her requests. If you won't do it for her, at least do it for my sanity... I'm begging you!"
"Alright Uncle Charlie." Katrina said, sighing, and then turned to the two guys. "Lucien, you're coming with me. You may end up fighting a couple of demons in there. Other guy, if you come along as back up, I'll pay you... 5000 gald. Deal?"

"...Make it dinner and we'll talk." Lucien said, throwing in a devious smile and wink with what he'd just said. "I never pass up an opportunity like this, trust me, my dear~"

"... my name is Sam- I mean, my name is Sable." Sable began to say his full name, but decided to use his new alias instead. Looking at Lucien with a slight bit of confusion, the half-elf looked at the woman Katrina and frowned. Two sides inside him warred, one wanting to accept the deal, the other not, as this seemed important to the woman. Thinking quickly, he reached a compromise. "Right, I will accompany you on your task, but any payment deals will be settled later. For now, we must make haste."
